I work on the part of an application most people never see — the logic that decides who's allowed to do what, how data stays consistent when things go wrong, and why a system holds up under real use, not just a demo. That usually means designing APIs that are easy to work with, structuring databases so they age well, and thinking through access control early instead of bolting it on later. I care about getting the small decisions right — the ones that don't show up in a screenshot but matter a lot once real users show up. Backend work is easy to overlook when it's done well. That's the part I enjoy most.
